Better sleep for the whole family — how to get it

5 min de lecture

A family bed isn't only about being close. It's about everyone actually sleeping well. Here are the things that, in practice, make the biggest difference when several people share a bed.

Away with the crack in the middle

The classic fix — two mattresses pushed together — has a built-in flaw: the crack and cold bridge down the middle. That's where an arm or a leg lands, and where the warmth escapes. One continuous full-width mattress removes both the gap and that cold spot, and suddenly everyone can lie wherever they like.

The right firmness

Whether you sleep well depends a lot on firmness. Too soft and you sink with poor support; too hard and shoulders and hips take too much pressure. Our continental bed comes with two reversible mattresses, so you effectively have four firmness levels to choose from and can find the one that suits you.

A topper with no seams

On top of the springs sits a seamless topper — cast in one piece, no joins. That means no lumps and no cold bridges across the width, so the surface feels the same whether you're in the middle or out at the edge. It's a small detail you feel every night.

Enough room to lie flat

The most overlooked sleep factor is simply space. If the bed is too narrow, you wake at each other's movements. Reckon on about 90 cm per adult and 60 cm per child — and choose one size too big rather than too small. Plenty of room is the cheapest sleep upgrade you can buy.

Routines beat tricks

In the end, steady habits do more than any mattress: roughly the same bedtime, a calm room, a cool temperature and a short, familiar wind-down. The bed just shouldn't get in the way — which is exactly why we build it the way we do.

Questions fréquentes

Is one big mattress better than two pushed together?
Yes. Two mattresses leave a crack and a cold bridge in the middle, where you can roll down or get cold. One full-width mattress gives an even, continuous surface with no gaps.
How do we find the right firmness?
The continental bed comes with two reversible mattresses — four firmness levels in all. Choose by weight and sleeping position, and use the 100-night trial to feel it out at home.
How big a bed do we need to sleep undisturbed?
About 90 cm per adult and 60 cm per child. To avoid waking at each other's movements, choose generously.
